San Joaquin distribution center announced as 2012 Shipper of the Year

By Annette Silva, DLA Distribution San Joaquin, Calif., Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Joaquin, Calif., has been announced as the winner of the U.S. Army Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's Shipper of the Year Award in the large shipper category.

"I really appreciate San Joaquin's continuous focus to detail that enabled this award," said DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Susan Davidson. "My congratulations!"

The shipper award promotes timely and accurate submission of export cargo documentation and recognizes shippers who consistently exceed the Defense Transportation Regulation standard of 95 percent for on-time and error-free data. San Joaquin was recognized for scoring 99.3 percent for timeliness and 99.5 percent for accuracy with an overall effectiveness percentage of 99.42.

For this award, SDDC reviews the 12 monthly Transportation Control and Movement documents, or TCMD, effectiveness reports for calendar year 2012. These reports are generated monthly from the Global Air Transportation Execution System and are used to create the yearly report. They evaluate accuracy and timeliness of TCMD preparation and transmission and select the top three shippers in each category.

Approximately 2,000 shippers competed for the award in five categories: Small, Medium, Large, Super Large, and Shipper of Merit.
